Our mission is to produce

Haygen-Brice Walker is a playwright. Elaina Di Monaco is a director & dramaturg. Together, they are ON THE ROCKS.
Based in long-term friendship and collaboration, ON THE ROCKS was thrust into the Philadelphia theatre scene in 2015 and hasn't stopped producing since. They are known throughout Philadelphia as "fringe darlings" and continue to present an annual production under the umbrella of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival.
Haygen-Brice Walker is a Puerto Rican-American playwright born and raised in the American South and currently splitting his time between Philadelphia and Minneapolis, where he is currently a Jerome Many Voices Fellow at The Playwrights' Center. He holds a BFA in Directing, Playwriting, & Production with a focus in Playwriting and a Creative Writing minor from the University of the Arts and is a two-time alumnus of the National Theatre Institute (Theatermakers 2011, Advanced Playwriting 2012).
Elaina Di Monaco is a queer director & dramaturg based in Philadelphia. She is most interested in developing and presenting the works of local, queer playwrights and is tired of being bored at the theatre. She thinks we should do less Shakespeare and more new plays. She also believes radical honesty in feedback is key and that the best idea in the room wins. Elaina works around town on pieces that she believes in, with artists that are kind.
OUR
WORK
ON THE ROCKS creates bold queer theatre that is messy, absurd, terrifying, and hilarious.
Our plays take a challenging look at millennial culture inside of systems of homophobia and white supremacy through a lens of deconstructed horror, humor, and sex. It is our mission to build wild, exciting performance that feel like a party for our audiences, while still engaging with important topics and relevant social issues.
Our shows are late-night, BYOB & full of surprises.
We here at ON THE ROCKS will challenge your expectations, chase them with a shot of tequila, and sending you stumbling off into the night.
DONATE
& support bold queer art
by local artists
We believe that the work ON THE ROCKS is making is filling a void in the Philadelphia theatre community. Our plays are bold, queer, messy, full of grit, and a challenging look at millennial culture inside of systems of homophobia and white supremacy. We tell stories that consistently feature queer millennials of color and create spaces for audiences to be their queerest selves.
We haven't seen anything else like it, & we don't want to stop making it.
Please, consider making a tax-deductible donation to help us make this work.
With love & tequila,
